Chasing Light

a physical computing project simulating sunflower’s behavior towards sunlight

Overview

We all tend to see plants as quiet and static living organisms. However, the fact is that they do have interesting behaviors responding to natural phenomena, and they just have very slow motions and movements that exists in a whole other time scale that is often ignored by people.

Therefore, this project is inspired by this and intended to explore and imitate a sunflower’s natural behavior responding to light. The sunflower will turn left or right responding to which direction has the strongest light, and its head will raise up if there’s a light source above.
